  • Illegally placed structural panels used to keep cement trucks from getting stuck in the lakebed. Note the lake waters touching the panels. Developer Roger Sortino placed these panels on the lakebed without proper permits from the US Army Corps of Engineers, in order to hasten the construction of his bridge. The Corps issued a “cease and desist order” but the developer proceeded with construction until rising lake levels forced a halt. Destruction of the lakebed and the resulting loss of scenic value to the area caused by construction of a private bridge to Dockstader Island on the north shore of Flathead Lake in Bigfork, Montana, in violation of the state's Lakeshore Protection Act, as photographed on May 20, 2015.
